Teacher Day - Why Teachers Day Celebrate On 5th Of Sept

Teacher's Day is celebrated on 5th September every year in honor of teachers. By organizing Teachers' Day, we also remember a great teacher, politician and philosopher Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. Dr. Radhakrishnan, who took India to new heights in the field of education, was a great teacher and was the first Vice President and second President of Independent India. He was born on September 5th, that's why the teacher's day is organized on 5th September.

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born on September 5, 1888 in Tiruttani Gov in Tamil Nadu. He was a financially weak family and was very interested in studying from the beginning. Radhakrishnan's early education took place in Gauri School and Tirupati Mission School in Thiruvallur. After this he completed his studies from the Madras Christian College. In the year 1902, matriculation level examination passed first class and also received scholarship. Dr. Radhakrishnan passed his MA in Philosophy in 1916. Did and took over the post of assistant professor of the same subject at Madras Residency College. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's marriage was completed in 1903, at the age of 16, with the sister of a distant relation 'Sivakamu'. Radhakrishnan was awarded the Bharat Ratna of India's highest honor in 1954 for his outstanding contribution in education and politics.

At the time of India's independence, Jawaharlal Nehru urged Radhakrishnan to fulfill diplomatic work with the Soviet Union as a special ambassador. He remained diplomat till 1952, after which he was appointed to the post of Vice President. After the term of Rajendra Prasad's term in 1962, Radhakrishnan assumed the post of President. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan died on 17 April 1975 after a prolonged illness.
